Excitement has been running high for The Fate of the Furious, which hit theaters nationwide April 14th, 2017. This is the 8th installment of the blockbuster series, Fast and Furious, and the first to exclude cast member Paul Walker. Early screenings and red carpet premieres were taking place at various locations all over the country but this would be first time, in the last three installments of the film, that Universal Studios, Allied Moxy and Automotive Rhythms did not host a DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) based premiere. The WolfPack car club and a few friends banded together to make sure that the DMV was not left out.

The Wolfpack car club holds bi-weekly cars meets in Laurel MD that bring in a couple hundred cars every time. Coincidently this meet is held next door to the Regal Laurel Towne Centre 12, which is one of the nicest theaters in the area with king size reclining seats, tray tables, reserved seating and more. After a few meetings with management, it was agreed that the theater would show the movie a day early to the local car enthusiasts. Word of this traveled fast and the demand was so high, that the two showings rose to six. Over 500 cars were in attendance at the meet that subsequently sold out all six showings.

The movie was packed with nonstop action from beginning to end, with a few twists that left patrons in awe. “Family” is a key theme in this movie and after watching it, you will see why. Dodge and the entire FCA brand got their monies worth, as the film displayed many of the brands vehicles. There was no shortage of luxury vehicles as well,  such as the Lamborghini Murcielago, Bentley Continental, 1966 Corvette Stingray, Subaru BR-Z, Mercedes-AMG GT, Jaguar F-Type Coupe, Dodge Ice Charger and many more.  Fans left encouraged that even without Paul the franchise will strongly live on. The only complaint about the film was to add in more actual racing and garage scenes. Through it all, the racing and the cars will always be the foundation of the movie franchise and its core fans.

On this day a statement was made for the DMV car scene that there are many car enthusiasts who can measure up with the best in any city. On site at the meet were vehicles such as the Dodge Viper, Nissan GTR, Porsche, CTS – V, Scion, Dodge Challenger, Chrysler 300, GSXR 1000, Yamaha R6, BMW SR1000, Lamborghini, McLaren and more. The automotive spectacle also put smiles on kids’ faces that were there to see the film and enjoy all of the nice cars outside. Meguiar’s was kind enough to see the vision thru and provide complete car care kits and as well as sample products for the crowd. A huge thank you must go out to Meguiar’s for sponsoring, the Laurel Town Centre property management for allowing the meet and the Regal Laurel Towne Centre 12 for showing the film.
